This was the second time we've made Powerpuff Girls cookie stacks and i thought we'd document it for everyone else. The Powerpuff Girls cookie stacks kits are availabale from Sainsburys in the UK, and probably all sorts of other places too.
1. You'll need a box of The Powerpuff Girls cookie stacks. |
2. Inside, you'll find:
An instruction leaflet
Cookie mixture
Icing sugar
Cookie cutter
Icing decorations
Writing icing
3. Preheat the oven to 180oC / Gas mark 4 (160oC for fan assisted ovens). |
4. Pour the cookie mixture into a large mixing bowl. |
5. Add one tablespoon of cold water. |
6. Mix with a spoon until it all sticks together. You might need to add a little more water. |
7. Once it starts to stick together, roll it into a ball with your hands. |
8. Sprinkle some flour onto a clean work surface. |
9. Roll out the cookie dough with a rolling pin. You want to make it about 3mm thick. |
10. Cut circles using the cookie cutter. You should be able to cut 27. |
11. Find a baking tray. |
12. It's a good idea to grease it with butter or lard or something. Olive oil would probably be healthier. |
13. Put your cookies on the baking tray, with plenty of space round each one. You may need more than one baking tray (we did!). |
14. Put the baking tray (or trays) into the oven. Hopefully it's heated up by now. |
15. Note the time - you'll want to check them after about 5 minutes. |
16. Why not take the time to wash everything up. Your mother will be pleased. |
17. Wait wait wait. You may want to sing The Powerpuff Girls theme tune, or maybe do a little dance. |
18. Hurrah! After 6 to 7 minutes they should start to go brown. Take them out of the oven! Transfer them to a wire rack using a spatula or palette knife. Using a plastic spatula, like we did, is a bad idea. Use a metal one. |
19. While the oven's still hot, why not cook a pizza for tea? |
20. Let the cookies cool down for about 5 minutes while you make the icing. |
21. Pour the icing sugar into a small mixing bowl and add 2 teaspoons of cold water. If you accidentally add 2 tablespoons (like we did the first time we made ppg cookies), then it wont work very well. Pay attention to the instructions! |
22. Put a small blob of icing onto 18 of the cookies. |
23. Assemble them into stacks of three, with icing between each layer. |
24. You should have 9 stacks if you counted right. |
25. Carefully take the decorations out of their mould. Dropping them on the floor so they smash (see photo) is not recommended. |
26. Use the remaining icing to stick a decoration onto each cookie stack. |
28. You can now use the tube of writing icing to further decorate the cookie stacks. We think it tastes weird and looks silly, so you might want to just bin it instead. |
29. Finally, the tasting! 10/10 |
